Dr. Alex McDonald

Dr. Alex McDonald MD, CASQM, FAAFP is a Family Medicine and Sports Medicine specialist, educator, and thought leader in the fields of Physical Activity, Lifestyle Medicine, Preventative Medicine, and Health Policy.  He is a partner physician at the Southern California Permanente Medical Group in Fontana, Calif., where he is a core faculty member and clinical professor at the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine, family medicine residency and sports medicine fellowship.

Dr. McDonald has served on the board of directors of the San Bernardino County Medical Society; the California Academy of Family Physicians; and as trustee of the California Medical Association. Dr. McDonald also served on the American Academy of Family Physicians as chair of the Commission on Membership and Membership Services as well as on the Congress of Delegates. Dr. McDonald holds a BA from Connecticut College as well as his Medical Degree from the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine.  He completed his medical internship at Duke University, and his Family Medicine residency and Sports Medicine fellowship at Southern California Kaiser Permanente Fontana, CA.

Dr. McDonald lives with his wife (an Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist), three children who attend Claremont Unified Schools, and their three dogs.  He enjoys running, riding his bike, cooking, coffee, and 8 p.m. dance parties with his kids.
